If You See A Green Porch Light

“Greenlight a Vet” started nine years ago. The campaign is about recognizing our veterans and including them as important members of our community. As a Military Relocation Professional®, it makes me feel proud to live and work in a community that appreciates our veterans.

Green symbolizes renewal and hope

To join in, just change one of your lightbulbs to green and turn it on every day. It doesn’t have to be on your porch—it could be in a window, over a shed, in your office, anywhere that works. Snap a pic of your green light and post it with hashtag #greenlightavet

If you’re not into a year-round green glow, there are plenty of opportunities to temporarily switch out your regular bulb: Veterans Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Arbor Day, Halloween, Christmas and of course, St. Patrick’s Day.

Before you buy

When choosing your bulb, pay attention to lumens. The more lumens, the brighter the bulb. This green bulb is soft, while this one could light up the whole neighborhood.

Green lights aside, bulb tech has advanced by leaps and bounds. You won’t believe the range of brightness, temperature, size and shape that’s out there today. Here’s what you need to know.
